The need to tackle misinformation in this digital era can never be overemphasised. Many people have been harmed by disinformation, false information, or what is commonly known as fake news.
In Rwanda, for instance, mass media were used to propagate hate and misinformation, which built up to the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi. Misinformation in all its facets should therefore be fought by all legal means possible.
