The energy projects have been scandal ridden with allegations of corruption and poor-quality work.
Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni has sacked new energy PS Dr Stephen Isabalija.
Executive Director of the Government Media Centre, Ofwono Opondo has confirmed Isabalija’s sacking.
“The letter is plain, it doesn’t give reasons (for the sack),” Opondo told The East African in a telephone interview.
Mr Isabalija has been replaced by Robert Kasande, an experienced technocrat in the Ministry of Energy.
It is, however, unclear why Dr Isabalija has been relieved of his duties.
Oil production is a legacy defining ambition for Mr Museveni's energy infrastructure drive towards 2020 production that the Ministry is overseeing.

Last year, Dr Isabalija replaced long-serving Dr Kagabambe Kaliisa, a former Permanent Secretary who lasted 40 years in the ministry.
