Rwanda buries diplomat Jacques Bihozagara

Rwandan ex-minister Jacques Bihozagara, who died in prison in Burundi, was buried at the Rusororo Cemetery in Kigali.

The cause of his death remains unknown. An autopsy report conducted by pathologists at the Police Hospital was expected to be made available to his family, but his relatives said they were yet to receive it.

Mr Bihozagara died in mysterious circumstances last month in a Burundian prison aged 71.

He was arrested on December 4, 2015 at the height of Rwanda-Burundi tensions on suspicion that he was a Rwandan spy.

“Up to now we do not have the autopsy report, but we were informed that his widow, Jeanne Bihozagara, will get it soon,” a relative said.

The police spokesperson Celestin Twahirwa, confirmed that the autopsy had been conducted by Police Hospital, adding that the results will be “communicated to the person or entity that requested for it.”
