President Paul Kagame visited Paris on Wednesday and held talks with French President Emmanuel Macron at a time when Rwanda is fighting pressure from the European Union (EU) and some of its members to tighten sanctions over its alleged role in the conflict in eastern Congo.
The visit also comes as Kigali negotiates mineral and migrant deals with the United States, tied to ongoing US-brokered negotiations to bring an end to the war in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
