Operations at the East African Legislative Assembly (Eala) have stalled due to a lack of funds, as EAC partner states fail to remit their annual contributions.

The persistent problem has been there for the past year. But now Eala MPs have not received salaries since November last year, leaving statutory obligations unmet and slowing down their oversight mandate. The crisis has disrupted legislative activities and raised concerns among financial institutions such as KCB Bank Tanzania.
