Democratic Republic of Congo’s President Felix Tshisekedi is focusing on reforms within his own military as the latest attempt to bring under control the country’s security situation.
Last week, President Tshisekedi promoted the head of the presidential guard, Lt-Gen Christian Tshiwewe, as the new chief of general staff of the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (FARDC), replacing General Célestin Mbala, who had held the post since 2018.
