Once upon a time, there was a villager who raised a goose that laid a golden egg every day. He sold these eggs to the market and became conspicuously wealthy.

As he became more prosperous, he decided to squeeze the goose to lay more than one egg a day. When none popped out, in frustration, he eviscerated the goose to extract all the eggs in its womb. He did not find a single egg and was left holding a carcass of the goose.
