The East African Community (EAC) is seeking approximately $45 million in funding from development partners to strengthen the region's preparedness for and response to Ebola and other high-consequence infectious diseases.
The funding will support the training of 500 frontline healthcare workers, as well as community awareness programmes targeting 15,000 people in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), EAC Acting Director of Social Sectors, Dr Dorcas Omukhulu, said.
