The Dangote Oil Refinery will in August begin supplying fuel directly to retail stations, manufacturers, telecoms firms and other large users, a move that could enhance supply but puts it in direct competition with local fuel traders.

Africa's largest refinery, with a capacity of 650,000 barrels per day, began processing gasoline for the local market last year, allowing local fuel traders to collect products from its refinery. Now, it is seeking to take on distribution.
