Kenya’s regulators are revising rules on stock trading to enable easier leasing of idle shares, part of a long-term project to keep counters busy.

The Capital Markets Authority (CMA) and the Central Depository and Settlement Corporation (CDSC) Ltd have admitted that the collateral rules governing the lending and borrowing of idle shares on the Nairobi Securities Exchange could stifle short-term trading.
