Angola has evacuated its ceasefire observers forces from the eastern of the Democratic Republic of Congo amid intensified conflict between the M23 rebel group and Congolese forces.

Luanda is the Chair of the International Conference for the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR) and AU-appointed mediator of the peace talks between DRC and Rwanda, which is accused of backing the rebels.
