Samia meets envoys, pledges Tanzania’s national ‘renewal’

President Samia Suluhu Hassan on Thursday said she would use her second and final term to “repair, rebuild, and renew” Tanzania after a disputed election victory underpinned by deadly public unrest last October.
Addressing diplomatic corps and representatives of international organisations at the annual State House diplomatic sherry party, the President urged continued backing for Tanzania’s economic diplomacy agenda, while calling on “those who may not share our vision to at least respect our sovereignty.”
