The election victory of President-elect Donald Trump has had repercussions well beyond the United States, arguably no more viscerally than in Kenya’s refugee complex of Dadaab.

Somali refugees here—who have spent years waiting for resettlement to the United States—fear his swearing-in will trigger a repeat of the “Muslim travel ban”, which temporarily barred the entry of travellers from Somalia, Iraq, Iran, Libya, Sudan, Syria and Yemen in 2017-2018.
