Mo Ibrahim has made a direct appeal to Presidents Samia Suluhu Hassan of Tanzania and Yoweri Museveni of Uganda to stop the violent crackdown on their critics.
His statement on Monday added to a growing uproar, especially about President Hassan, whose government has come under sharp focus for detaining and torturing activists from Kenya and Uganda.
