The Zambian government has rejected a critical resolution passed by the European MPs regarding alleged irregularities and a post-election crackdown after the country's August 2026 general election.

On September 17, 2026, the European Parliament voted overwhelmingly – 562 votes in favour, one against, and 33 abstentions – to condemn a surge in political repression in Zambia following the re-election of President Hakainde Hichilema.
