Tundu Antipas Lissu, veteran politician, human rights activist and chairman of Tanzania opposition party Chadema, sits in remand prison fighting charges of, among others, treason, one of the most serious charges on our statute books, carrying a possible death sentence if found guilty.

The case has naturally excited public interest and thousands of people have expressed interest in following its conduct, not only in Tanzania but also in the region and across the world.
