A haggard-looking Kizza Besigye was returned to gaol this week, after an inconclusive appearance in court over a bid for his freedom. In detention since mid-November 2024, Besigye has been on hunger strike for the past couple of weeks, protesting his incarceration after the court martial sent him on remand.
Besigye, who refused to take a plea before the military court, and his co-accused Obeid Lutale, face charges of treachery and illegal possession of firearms and munitions.
