International shipping lines operating through Kenyan ports have secured a temporary reprieve ahead of the November licence renewals after the Court of Appeal halted enforcement of controversial maritime transport regulations.

The order on October 2 suspended provisions that industry players warned would raise the cost of doing business, deter foreign investment and drive cargo to rival ports.
