Uganda’s most prominent playwright, actor, director and musician, Alex Mukulu, who died on August 15 aged 72, and had been in theatre for decades, has left a huge gap in the art industry.
Arguably, he was the only man who could bring politics from public rallies, Parliament and State House to the theatre stage. His career spanned decades, and his works challenged Ugandans to confront their history, politics, culture and social realities.
