Hundreds of residents in central Kenya’s Laikipia County took to the streets on Monday to protest moves by the United States to set up an Ebola quarantine facility at the military air base there, underscoring growing public anxiety over the regional outbreak.
The demonstrations disrupted business and transport in Nanyuki, a key tourism and commercial hub, as protesters accused the government of failing to consult local communities before establishing the facility.
