As Tanzania's ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) party continued to hog the campaign limelight this past week ahead of the October 29 General Election, struggling opposition parties still involved in the contest appeared content to play second fiddle, offering little in the way of serious alternative choices to voters.

The lack of enthusiasm being displayed by the remaining rival candidates to President Samia Suluhu Hassan, after electoral agencies removed all worthy competition, has prompted a steady drop in general public interest as another foregone CCM triumph looms on the horizon.
