Gen Z protests: Kenya battles to save image abroad

The Kenyan government on Tuesday pushed back against criticism from Western embassies as the country prepared for anniversary protests marking one year since the historic Gen Z demonstrations.

Just hours after 12 Western missions issued a joint statement cautioning against the deployment of masked police officers and “goons” against peaceful protesters, two arms of the Kenyan government sent letters to the embassies, rejecting what they called a lecture on the country’s democratic credentials.
