A renewed claim over the disputed Ilemi Triangle is threatening to keep a vital Kenya-South Sudan transport link in limbo, and frustrate regional infrastructure plans.
South Sudan Vice-President Taban Deng Gai has rejected regional maps showing the semi-arid territory as part of Kenya. Speaking at the closing session of the Global Logistics and Trade Convention in Juba on Thursday, Mr Gai said Kenya had administered the territory on South Sudan’s behalf and called for talks on its status.
