Dear UNSC, lifting South Sudan arms embargo would be reckless

Within weeks, more than 10,000 kilometres from South Sudan, a vote by 15 nations risks making an alarming situation in the world’s newest country even worse.

As fighting spreads across South Sudan, the members of the UN Security Council - three of whom are African - will gather to decide whether to extend a UN arms embargo on South Sudan by another year.
