The Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) is advancing at an unprecedented pace, surpassing 1,000 deaths in just two months. The country's 17th Ebola outbreak, declared on May 15, 2026, had already claimed 1,309 lives by July 25 according to Congolese authorities.
Meanwhile, 2,536 confirmed cases have been recorded, including 738 patients in isolation or hospital care and 506 recoveries. The case fatality rate has reached 40.7 percent, while only 77.2 percent of identified contacts are being successfully monitored, highlighting the challenges facing the response.
