Tourism stakeholders in East Africa are calling for urgent reforms to reduce the cost of travel across the region, saying high airfares, expensive cross-border transactions and slow implementation of regional agreements are undermining efforts to build a single tourism market.

Industry players want East African Community (EAC) governments to improve air connectivity, enable seamless digital payments and remove policy barriers that continue to limit movement between member states.
