As the campaigns for the 2026 presidential election, which began at the end of last month, enter their third week, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni – who is campaigning for his seventh term in office after nearly 40 years in power – has called upon Ugandans to embrace forgiveness and reconciliation as the pillars of unity, healing, and lasting peace, urging the nation to rise above past divisions as it celebrates 63 years of independence.
The President was speaking at the 27th National Prayer Breakfast held at State House, Entebbe, saying that the event reminds leaders and citizens alike of the spiritual roots of national cohesion.
