Rwanda is once again topping regional efforts to combat corruption, cementing a role it has held for the last decade.
The Mo Ibrahim Foundation’s 2026 Ibrahim Index of African Governance data brief on anti-corruption, released July 2026, shows that Africa’s average anti-corruption score rose slightly from 38.6 in 2016 to 39.1 in 2025. And Rwanda, in the East African region, was investing more efforts in taming graft. It showed the biggest improvement in the region.
