Uganda elections: Blame game as violence, tension rock campaigns
Ugandan Presidential candidate Bobi Wine, of the NUP party, is escorted by law enforcement officers on the day of his campaign rally ahead of the general elections in Kampala, Uganda December 8, 2025.
Uganda’s Electoral Commission has been criticised for allowing political rallies to be disrupted during a campaign season characterised by violent scenes.
However, the Commission itself may have limited capacity to rein in errant players, as it may be constrained by the political system and legal framework.
