UN to shut more bases in South Sudan over budget cuts

The United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) said on Monday that it is in the process of closing additional operating bases across the country due to budget cuts.

UNMISS Spokesperson Priyanka Chowdhury told Xinhua in Juba, the capital of South Sudan, that the UN mission is in the process of closing field offices in Aweil, Northern Bahr El Ghazal State and Torit in Eastern Equatoria State, and other smaller bases in Yei, Koch, Akobo, Bunj and Pariang.
