The United Nations Security Council is considering closing the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals (IRMCT) in Arusha.

The Council is expected to deliberate on the future operations of the Arusha-based mechanism, which has been in operation for 16 years, and may either close it or transfer its remaining functions elsewhere.
