Why Sudan’s latest peace effort is on the wrong footing

Sudan’s latest attempt to open a path to peace has started on the wrong footing, with experts warning that the process risks failing because it sidelines some of the people who have been fighting each other for the past 29 months.
The ‘Sudanese-to-Sudanese Dialogue’ was endorsed by the head of the military government Lt-Gen Abdel Fattah al-Burhan on August 14 and was backed by the African Union on August 31, as a key pathway for Sudanese people to find a lasting solution.
