It’s not initiatives that we lack but it’s coordination we need

We can give young Africans a decent life that lets them grow and age among their own people.

July 11 was World Population Day. Wherever it found you in Africa, you could have heard those nice, actually wise and quite rational statements about the development of human resources being the key that can unlock the prosperity and quality which have generally eluded the continent for so long.

The “population weekend” found me traveling through a couple of African international airports, so I saw what no longer surprises me or anyone for that matter: the number of outbound young Africans — mostly female — on the way to seek prosperity or survival in foreign lands. From their attire, it didn’t require a detective to predict their general destination.
