Reports of Ugandans starving have been greatly exaggerated
It is possible that today hundreds could be dying of hunger, if reports by foreign agencies are true, but we have heard them before, so we don’t know when to believe them.
In Uganda, we have this belief (could be true) that an (army) officer maintains his dignity even through the process of death (kufa kiofisa). No pleading for mercy when enemy juniors are finishing him off, however painfully. Many of our people maintain a straight face and posture when undergoing hunger, preferring to die in officer style.
