The Democratic Republic of Congo has secured $192 million for its first population census in 42 years and the second since independence.

Planning Minister Guylain Nyembo said in Kinshasa on Monday that the budget required for the exercise had been secured and that preliminary operations were already underway. The government is relying on census mapping and digital tools to carry out this massive undertaking by July 2027. Of the total $192 million budget, the state has contributed $30 million.
