The US is reopening the door for AU-led peace keeping missions to draw directly from the UN budgets to fund their operations, if they can accept a series of conditions.

This week, at the UN Security Council, Washington said it sees the UN budget as a useful tool to support African missions, as approved by Resolution 2719 of 2023. But it said such missions ought to have short timelines and clear objectives.
