The Ugandan government has been given the nod by Parliament to approve the deployment of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) to the Gaza Strip, signalling intent to be a part of an International Stabilisation Force (ISF) proposed by the US.
And defence officials in Kampala said they had been approached by Washington to contribute troops to a multinational peacekeeping mission whose exact launch date now depends on Israel’s view of it.
